DP 150 – Sliding and Lift-and-Slide Doors

Application
The DP 150 system is used for constructing sliding and lift-and-slide windows and doors intended for both external and internal installations. DP 150 sliding structures are designed for use in residential buildings, mainly individual housing and public utility buildings, as:
a) External partition when it serves as:

  • an exit from a living space to a terrace (as the only partition separating the apartment from the outside environment),
  • an exit from winter gardens (heated and unheated) when these doors are mounted in an aluminum-glass structure attached to a residential building and serve as a secondary partition (the building wall contains the main partition meeting thermal and acoustic insulation requirements, etc.),
  • the only partition embedded in the aluminum-glass structure of a winter garden, when the living space is connected to a heated terrace enclosure (winter garden),
  • an external window in residential or public utility buildings.
  1. b) Internal partition:
  • for shaping load-bearing sliding walls in residential buildings,
  • for arranging rooms and office cubicles,
  • for creating office enclosures (e.g., shelves, cabinets with sliding doors).

Technical Description
The DP 150 system consists of three-chamber aluminum profiles with a thermal break.
Installation depth is:

  • frame – 150 mm
  • sash – 66 mm

Various types of infill can be used in the DP 150 system (single glass, insulated glass, including triple-glass units with thickness from 8 to 50 mm).
The maximum construction dimensions possible in this system are:
Sash height Hs = 2800 mm and sash width Bs = 3000 mm.
The dimensions are also limited by the hardware load capacity:

  • maximum weight of lift-and-slide door sash – 300 kg,
  • maximum weight of sliding door sash – 250 kg.

The total width of the structure is only limited by the commercially available profile lengths offered by YAWAL S.A.

Additional Advantages (specific to this system)
DP150 allows for systematically opening very large glazed areas.
The use of lift-and-slide hardware improves the functional properties of the construction (eliminating the effect of slamming door sashes, etc.).
Proper embedding of the lower part of the frame into the floor practically eliminates the threshold, which is not possible in other external partitions.

Key Features
Within the DP 150 system, it is possible to create sliding structures in various configurations and layouts. It is also possible to install DP 150 doors in facade systems.
Appropriate transitional profiles allow for sliding doors with upper and side transoms positioned at 90 and 135 degrees relative to the door plane.

Three-Track Frame
Profiles for constructing three-track frames are now available. The three-track frame profile consists of two independent profiles numbered 12.18126.x and 12.18108.x. The shape of these profiles is designed to allow a clear connection. The principle of joining is similar to snapping a decorative clip on a pressure strip in a facade. However, in this case, much more force is required. In workshop conditions, the connection of both parts can be done with simple tools, e.g., carpentry clamps. Several clamps are placed on the profiles about 1 m apart. Then, the clamps are tightened until the profiles snap into place. The profile is secured against separation by screwing in appropriate screws, which prevent uncontrolled opening due to, e.g., pressure from rollers moving the sash.

The three-track frame expands the construction possibilities of the entire system. Using it, a wide range of sliding door configurations can be created that were not possible with a two-track frame.

The latest edition of the DP150 system catalog, which will be available soon, will include all the information needed for proper prefabrication of such structures, including: profile connection methods, cross-sections through three-track constructions, and drainage methods for these sliding doors.
